Venezuelan delegation praises Cuba's support

HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 19 (ACN) Cuba’s constant support for Venezuela's sovereignty was highlighted by the Bolivarian delegation to the 3rd International Meeting of Theoretical Publications of Left-Wing Parties and Movements, held in this city.

Iris Varela, member of the National Directorate of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), expressed the gratitude of her compatriots and how difficult it was to put in words their emotion when they saw that more than 50,000 Havana residents gathered since the early hours of the morning.

Ms. Varela stressed that the rally demonstrates once again that Cuba's solidarity is not and has never been just lip service and that the brotherhood between the two countries has been a constant practice, guided by the example and legacy of Commanders Fidel Castro Ruz and Hugo Chávez Frías, who played a key role in the transformation that has taken place in the Bolivarian Homeland.

Likewise, she praised the decisive contribution of the Cuban missions in doing away with the structures of the bourgeois state that always held power in Venezuela and was completely incapable of addressing social needs such as illiteracy and medical care in far-off communities, among other issues in which Cuba assisted.

“This can only be achieved by a Revolution; the Bolivarian Revolution did it with the support of the Cuban Revolution and its people”, she pointed out. “Now, the same imperialism that invented weapons where none existed is constructing the narrative of a narco-state against Venezuela, but what is at stake are the country’s vast oil reserves, which the Americans so covet due to their consumerist lifestyle that sows hunger, misery, destruction, and hatred among the peoples of the world. In this context, what matters is the solidarity of the people. That is why you will always find us united by invisible but too strong ties that no one can break, as evidenced by the signatures of more than four million Cubans that we received in solidarity”.

David Gómez Rodríguez, vice president of Education and Ideology of the PSUV, agreed with her views and defended the historic union defined by Cuba's National Hero, José Martí, who proclaimed himself a Bolivarian, and Chávez, who esteemed Fidel as a father, all of which marks the relationship of love between Cuba and Venezuela.

He referred to the meeting of theoretical publications as another example of how to unite at the level of conscientiousness and ideas on the basis of in-depth discussion of a world that is inevitably changing and where alternative voices will play an important role in the reconfiguration of a new, more just world order.

“This meeting is necessary, and its holding in Cuba at this moment of resistance also sends a message to the world stating that socialism remains the historic project of workers and peasants engaged in the definition of concrete horizons for the various structures that keep driving the revolution in organic terms”, he concluded.
