Cuba Congratulates Guyanese Re-elected President Mohamed Irfaan

Havana, Sept 8 (ACN) Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, conveyed on his X social network congratulations to Mohamed Irfaan Ali on his re-election as President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana.

The Cuban head of state wished Irfaan Ali success in his new term, while ratifying the will to continue strengthening the relations of friendship and cooperation between their countries.

Irfaan Ali took office on Sunday, September 7, for a second term, after his People's Progressive Party-Civic won the general elections last week by obtaining more than 242,000 votes, approximately 55 percent of the support, and taking eight of the ten districts that make up the country.

Cuba and Guyana established diplomatic relations in December 1972 and since then have maintained ties of cooperation, friendship, solidarity and mutual respect.
