HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 5 (ACN) The endearing friendship between China and Cuba proves the strength of two genuine revolutions and mutual solidarity, said Miguel Diaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, today on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
The Cuban leader, on an official visit to China, recalled on X, that during a meeting held on Tuesday with his counterpart Xi Jinping, the Chinese head of state described bilateral relations as strong as iron.
This is how Cuba feels about them, concluded Diaz-Canel, who participated on Thursday in the event marking the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations (established on September 28, 1960).
According to the Cuban Presidency, the celebration took place at the headquarters of the Association for Friendship of the Chinese People with Foreign Countries (AAPCHE), with the presence of Han Zheng, Vice President of the People's Republic of China.
Cuban head of state presented Yang Wanming, president of the AAPCHE, with the Friendship Medal for his contribution to strengthening ties between the Cuban and Chinese people.
In his speech celebrating the 65th anniversary of the formalization of bilateral relations, Vice President Han Zheng of the People's Republic of China highlighted Diaz-Canel's participation in the main ceremony and military parade marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, held on September 3.
Regarding the meeting between the two leaders, Han said it was an exchange that allowed for new consensus to be reached to further consolidate the close relationship between the Chinese and Cuban parties, governments, and people.
For his part, Diaz-Canel, in his speech, recalled that the ties from 1960 to the present were conceived, developed, and forged by the relationship between the leaders of the Cuban Revolution and the leaders of the Chinese Revolution, especially by Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz and Chairman Mao Zedong, and have been continued by new generations of Chinese and Cuban leaders.
"It must be said that in all these years, we have developed a group of mutually beneficial projects; we have had a broad exchange on global issues; we agree on the core aspects of our relations, and this has led us to increasingly strengthen this close relationship," he emphasized.
He also explained that these ties have led to renewed concepts about what cooperation between China and Cuba should look like in the fundamental areas involving economic and social development.
"We have found," he specified, "models of cooperation of common interest that guarantee mutual benefit and contribute to integration among those participating in these projects."
At the event, a commemorative envelope was unveiled, and a photographic exhibition featuring milestones in the historical ties between the two people was opened.
