HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 5 (ACN) Cuba and Vietnam signed a three-year defense cooperation plan following a meeting between Army Corps General Alvaro Lopez Miera, Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), and General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, Cuban Foreign Ministry highlighted on its website.
During the meeting, which took place on Wednesday in Hanoi, Cuban minister stated that the achievements of the people of that Asian nation over the past eight decades are a great source of encouragement and motivation for the Cuban people in the current period.
The head of the FAR emphasized Cuba's pride in having Vietnam as a sister country and its willingness to promote and strengthen the relationship between the two militaries, contributing to the development of the special traditional friendship between the two nations.
For his part, Phan Van Giang acknowledged that recently, defense cooperation has been one of the key pillars of the bilateral relationship, contributing to strengthening collaboration in other areas.
The Minister of National Defense also expressed the Indonesian nation's deep empathy for the unprecedented challenges Cuba is facing today, and affirmed that Vietnam is willing to accompany, support, and cooperate to the best of its ability.
Vietnam will never forget the profound and sincere support provided by Cuba during the most difficult periods of its struggle for liberation and national reunification, as well as in the country's current efforts to build and safeguard the homeland, he expressed.*****
