Díaz-Canel participates in commemorative military parade in China

HAVANA, Cuba, September 3 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel participated in the military parade held at Tiananmen Square, in Beijing, China, to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression.

In a post on X, the Cuban Presidency remarked that Díaz-Canel was received earlier by his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, who welcomed more than a dozen foreign leaders to the parade organized in honor of the millions of Chinese who died during the 14 years of armed conflict.

For more than an hour and a half, according to the text, more than 10,000 soldiers from China's air, sea, and land forces showed to the world their modern weapons and military might.

After greeting the war veterans, President Xi Jinping delivered a message to the nation and the world stating his respect to all those who fought in the Chinese people's war of resistance, as well as to those who made a contribution from different parts of the world.

Díaz-Canel arrived in China on Tuesday after a visit to Vietnam, where he attended the ceremony for the 80th anniversary of Vietnamese independence and the celebration of the 65th anniversary of bilateral relations between Cuba and Vietnam.

The Cuban delegation to the People’s Republic will meet with President Xi Jinping, visit sites of historical and socioeconomic interest, and participate in activities commemorating the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Cuba and China.
