Diaz-Canel holds talks with chairman of the Vietnamese legislature



HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 2 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CPC) and President of the Republic, held talks today with Tran Thanh Man, Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, during an official visit to the Indochinese nation.

According to the Cuban Presidency, during the meeting, which took place at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Parliament, Diaz-Canel thanked Tran Thanh Man for all his personal contributions to strengthening bilateral relations, previously as president of the Fatherland Front and now as leader of the legislature.

Cuban head of state conveyed greetings from Esteban Lazo, president of the Cuban National Assembly of People's Power, and extended an invitation to visit Cuba, now in his new capacity as head of Parliament.

Tran Thanh Man emphasized that 2025 holds particularly significant dates for Vietnam, such as the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and Vietnam National Day, as well as the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with Cuba.

"On behalf of the leaders of the Party and the National Assembly of Vietnam, I sincerely thank you, comrade, and the high-level Cuban delegation accompanying you, for coming to celebrate joy with the Vietnamese people," the parliamentary leader said.

He also expressed his gratitude for Diaz-Canel's participation in the solemn events organized in Cuba to commemorate very important events for Vietnam, such as the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party, the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the south and national reunification, as well as other significant anniversaries, such as the 135th anniversary of the birth of President Ho Chi Minh.

The Chairman of the Vietnamese Parliament thanked the Cuban people, for the solidarity and sincere support, both spiritual and material, that Cuba has provided to Vietnam throughout its history of struggle for liberation and reunification

Cuabn side was also represented by Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Army Corps General Alvaro Lopez Miera, Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces.

Emilio Lozada Garcia, head of the Central Committee's Department of Foreign Affairs; Ministers Oscar Perez-Oliva Fraga, Minister of Foreign Trade; Ydael Perez Brito, Minister of Agriculture; and Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, Ambassador to Hanoi, among other members of the official delegation, were also present.

Díaz-Canel arrived in Hanoi on Sunday, responding to an invitation from the Party and Government to participate in the ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, which took place this Tuesday.
The visit is the first stop on an official tour of Asian countries by a high-level Cuban delegation, which also includes visits to China and Laos.
