Havana, July 23 (ACN) The general secretary of Sri Lanka’s Bolivarian Solidarity Organization Jeewantha Jayatissa strongly condemned the US allocation of a 75 million dollars to fund destabilizing actions against Cuba.
In a public statement, cited by PL wire service, Jayatissa described as unjustified the coercive measures carried out by the Donald Trump administration, including the blacklisting of Cuba as a state sponsor of terrorism.
The activist said that such actions run against the peaceful nature of the Cuban people and their records of international humanitarian cooperation, the Cuban Foreign Ministry reported by citing PL wire service.
Jayatissa recalled the support given to Cuba every year by the overwhelming majority of the United Nations General Assembly against the US economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba for more than 6 decades now. Such world stance proves the respect for the Cuban socialist system, he noted.
The activist also recalled the Cuban medical assistance given to the passengers of a British cruise ship during the COVID-19 pandemic. He called on the international community to reject Washington’s prolonged harassment against the island nation and to back the Cuban people against policies restricting their basic rights and welfare.lc
