Cuba Criticizes US Withdrawal from UNESCO

 Havana, July 23 (ACN) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez described Washington’s decision to withdraw from the United Nations Education and Culture Organization (UNESCO) as contempt for multilateralism.

UNESCO general director Audrey Azoulay regretted the US decision and stressed the reforms and financial diversification undertaken by her organization.

The United States currently contributes 8 percent of UNESCO’s total budget, said Rodriguez who noted that the US move exposes the US’s financial-pressure policy against peace-oriented multilateral institutions.lc
