HAVANA,Cuba, Jul 8 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the country, sent a congratulatory message to Jennifer Geerlings-Simons, who made history by becoming the first woman elected President of Suriname.
On X, Cuban leader reiterated Cuba's willingness to continue deepening friendship, solidarity, and cooperation relations between both people and governments.
Geerlings-Simons, recognized for her political career, will assume office on July 16, 2025, at a key moment for Suriname, marked by economic challenges.
