Cuba highlights great influence of EAEU on global stability



HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 27 (ACN) The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) transcends regional borders and is projected as a cooperation, dialogue, and integration space, essential foundations for stability, development, prosperity, and world peace, Cuban president Miguel Diaz-Canel stated today.

Speaking at the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, held Friday in Minsk, Belarus, the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba emphasized that the Forum has experienced sustained progress.

According to the Cuban Presidency, the president affirmed that this consolidation process is an expression of a collective vision and benefits the economic and social development of the nations and people of the integration space.

Diaz-Canel emphasized that economic stability can only be guaranteed if it is accompanied by social justice, access to opportunities, and a shared vision of development.

In this regard, he noted that it is imperative to spread inclusive strategies that promote equitable growth, ensuring that the benefits of economic integration reach every citizen.

He highlighted Cuba's strategic location in the Caribbean and the trade and cooperation agreements Havana has with almost the entire Latin American region, which offer significant tariff advantages and can serve as a bridge and add value to products from the Union.

He also announced the signing of an agreement on Thursday to establish a bilateral committee between the Cuban Chamber of Commerce and the EAEU Business Council.

The Supreme Eurasian Economic Council is the most important body of the regional bloc, made up of the heads of the organization's member states (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia).

The Council meets annually, also with the participation of countries with observer status (Cuba, Uzbekistan, and Iran).

Diaz-Canel is attending this meeting for the second time in person, of which the island has been an observer state since December 2020.
