HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 20 (ACN) Manuel Marrero, Cuban PM, reiterated today the call for peace in the face of Israel's genocide in Palestine and its escalating war in the region, on the occasion of this Friday's World Refugee Day.
On X, Cuban premier expressed his solidarity with refugees and displaced persons around the world.
Using the hashtag #CubaConPalestina, Marrero stated: "On World Refugee Day, we raise our voices for the thousands of people who have been forced to leave their homes due to armed conflict."
The commemoration honors refugees and displaced persons around the world every June 20th and has been observed since 2001, marking the 50th anniversary of the 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees.
According to the United Nations, World Refugee Day highlights the rights, needs, and dreams of refugee and displaced populations. It also encourages the mobilization of resources and political will to ensure that these populations not only survive but also thrive.
