Havana, June 5 (ACN) The mayor of Oakland city in the US state of California, former democratic congresswoman Barbara Lee, reiterated her support for a change in US policy towards Cuba and her rejection of Washington’s over 60-year economic, commercial and financial blockade of the Caribbean Island nation.
Mayor Lee addressed a solidarity rally in Oakland attended by over one hundred unionists and activists from community organizations, according to Prensa Latina wire service.
The mayor welcomed Cuban diplomats Yasser Ibarra and David Ramirez, who took part of the tour “Let Cuba Live,” and recalled her tireless efforts towards the improvement of relations between the US and Cuba and for the lifting of the unilateral US siege.
In related news, the council of Richmond city, in California, adopted a proclamation urging Washington to withdraw Cuba from the arbitrary list of countries sponsors of terrorism and to lift all sanctions against the island.
