HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 14 (ACN) Yamila Gonzalez, vice president of the Cuban Jurists Association, began today a working visit to Australia, with the aim of strengthening bilateral ties in that sector.

As reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on its website, during her stay, Gonzalez will be received by Stephanie Copus Cambpbell, Ambassador for Gender Equity, and will hold meetings with the faculty of the University of Sydney, as well as with personalities of the law sector.

The program of the visit includes interviews with lawyers' associations, participation in events organized by Griffith University, and a meeting with members of the Cuba-Australia Friendship Society to discuss progress in the implementation of the Family Code in Cuba.

Gonzalez, who is also a deputy to Cuba's National Assembly of People's Power, will hold exchanges with specialists on issues related to women's rights, gender and family, elements in which she develops her work as an expert.

Cuba and Australia established diplomatic relations on January 31, 1989 and over the years have strengthened cooperation ties between the two countries.
