HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 9 (ACN) The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that Fabien Roussel, first secretary of the French Communist Party (PCF), urged the U.S. government to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba.
“We demand the United States to stop trampling on International Law”, said the leader while speaking in Vénissieux, Lyon, at a peace rally held on Tuesday, April 8―also attended by Raoul Hedebouw, president of the Labor Party of Belgium, and Arlette Cavillon, co-president of the Movement for Peace―where he called for solidarity with the Cuban people who, he recalled, have suffered the terrible effects of the blockade for more than 60 years while others look the other way.
“[The blockade] is the oldest, most outrageous and illegal siege and it must end”, he stressed.
Mr. Roussel exhorted France to apply legal instruments to circumvent the blockade as an opportunity to fight for peace and called on the international community to make peace the greatest human cause, not just with slogans but with political will.
