Cuba Stresses Commitment to Africa-Latin America Unity

Havana, April 9 (ACN) Cuba reiterated its commitment to a shared future between Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean as heirs of a common past and promoters of a future of prosperity and social justice.

Addressing the 2nd United Nations Tourism Summit of Africa and the Americas, Cuban ambassador to Zimbabwe Susellys Perez called to work shoulder to shoulder towards the strengthening of tourist strategies and exploring new ways of collaboration, according to the website of the Cuban Foreign Ministry.

Connectivity between these two regions is crucial as we need to promote exchange, and the opening of new avenues that help raise the values of our destinations with a sustainability-based approach, said the ambassador.

Perez underscored the current unity between Cuba and Africa describing it as a relationship marked by solidarity in both directions.

The Cuban diplomat said that tourism, as a strategic sector, faces significant challenges and at the same time offers opportunities for innovation and adaptation.

“Sustainable and responsible tourism is vital for the social and economic development of our nations,” she said and added that “we have great potential which must translate into larger growth and better welfare for our societies.”
