Cubans living in Panama issue declaration of commitment to their homeland

 HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 31 (ACN) The 13th National Meeting of the Martiana Association of Cubans Residing in Panama (Amcrp) concluded with a declaration that aims at transmitting to the new generations the love and commitment to the homeland.

As highlighted today by the Cuban foreign ministry on its website, Humberto Perez, president of that group, said that as part of their work they will continue condemning the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States more than 60 years ago, they will continue advocating for the exclusion of Cuba from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism and the rejection of the media and institutional campaign against the Cuban medical mission.

The document addresses other issues such as the support to initiatives in the business sector, the promotion of the economic development of the nation, the solidarity contribution of supplies in complex times and the defense of the promotion of culture.

During the exchange it was agreed to issue a solidarity statement with the Panamanian people in defense of their sovereignty and that of the Canal, threatened by President Donald Trump.

Jorge Guerra, vice president of Amcrp, announced at the meeting new actions this year such as the holding of caravans against the blockade and the participation in the 7th Regional Meeting of Cubans Residing in Latin America and the Caribbean, from June 13 to 15.

For his part, Victor Cairo, ambassador of the island to Panama, described the meeting as moving and that it offered the possibility of a frank and sincere dialogue on the potentialities of continuing to work together in support of the Cuban economy and transmitting to the new generations of Cuban nationals the love for the homeland, its identity, culture and traditions.

It was learned that Amcrp in Panama is one of the organizations that lead initiatives against the blockade and humanitarian aid actions to Havana in situations of meteorological events or other affectations that influence key sectors such as education, health and electro-energy, among others.
