HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 30 (ACN) Cuba saluted Palestinian Land Day, a commemoration observed in remembrance of the six young Arabs who were murdered during a demonstration in 1976 against the confiscation of their lands by the Zionist regime.
A ceremony was held at the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) in Havana to recall the 49th anniversary of the first general strike of the Palestinian people to demand their rights and decry the theft of their territory by Israel.
"The Palestinian war is not just another regional conflict, but a human rights crisis where fear and mistrust have become part of daily life", declared Mohammed Bheisi, a Palestinian studying medicine in Cuba who thanked the Cuban government and people for their solidarity.
On his end, ICAP president and Hero of the Republic Fernando González, stressed that Cuba will keep demanding the end of the Israeli genocide against Palestine, the recognition of that nation as a State by the UN and the fulfillment of its resolutions, as well as the reestablishment of the Palestinian borders before 1967 and the return of those displaced by the conflict.
"We are here to denounce before history the crime committed against Palestine; the genocide of its people is an open wound in the conscience of humanity," Mr. Gonzalez remarked. “For more than 75 years, the Palestinians have faced occupation and systematic violence on top of the destruction and the blockades to the provision of medical supplies, fuel and food. These are all weapons used by Zionism day after day to destroy an entire population and try to erase its history."
