Cuba Supports Iran against Coercive US Sanctions

Havana, Feb 27 (ACN) “We extended our solidarity to the Islamic Republic of Iran in the face of the enforcement of new coercive, unilateral measures by the US administration,” Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez stressed.

The Cuban minister said that the US sanctions are illegitimate and arbitrary as they run contrary to International Law.

Washington posed sanctions on over 30 people and ships, including the directors of Iran’s National Oil Company and Oil Terminals Company for brokering the sale and transportation of Iranian oil.

The sanctioned tankers reportedly were transporting crude oil valued at hundreds of millions of dollars.

International media outlets say that this is the second group of sanctions on Iranian oil sales since US President Donald Trump issued the Second National Security Presidential Memorandum this month. The document urges the reduction to zero of Iran’s oil exports.

Restrictions were also imposed on persons and tankers from China, the United Arab Emirates, India and other countries for allegedly having help finance Iran and its support of militias launching attacks against the US and its allies.
