HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 7 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the country, described as an act of ethnic cleansing and an insult to the international community the recent announcement by the United States to take control of Gaza and displace the Palestinian population.
On X, the Cuban president denounced that this unacceptable but expected action violates International Law and the basic norms of human coexistence.
Palestinian organizations, several Arab and Western countries and the UN rejected US President Donald Trump's proposal to remove the population of the Gaza Strip to settle the conflict between Hamas and Israel.
In a press conference at the White House, Trump again proposed that Gaza's inhabitants, a territory in ruins after 15 months of war, go to live in Jordan or Egypt.
Cuba has maintained a firm position in international forums against the Israeli occupation and U.S. policies in the Middle East, backing UN resolutions demanding an end to colonial practices in Palestinian territories.
