NAM condemns Cuba's inclusion in U.S. list

HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 26 (ACN ) The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) condemned the decision of the United States government to include Cuba again in its list of alleged state sponsors of terrorism, the digital portal UG Diplomat reported today, according to Prensa Latina in a dispatch dated in Kampala.

NAM, a forum of 120 countries that advocate non-alignment with any major power bloc, issued a statement on January 21 describing the move as an arbitrary, unilateral and politically motivated measure at odds with international calls for the normalization of U.S.-Cuba relations and urging
Washington to lift the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the island, which has been repeatedly condemned by the United Nations General Assembly as “the cause of great hardship for Cuba by restricting its capacity to engage in financial and commercial transactions".

As soon as he took office on January 20, the new U.S. president, Donald Trump, unfairly revoked his predecessor’s decision to remove Cuba from the aforesaid list.

Such a policy, which violates international law, was immediately condemned by various governments and organizations around the world that oppose the harmful unilateral actions of the U.S. government against Cuba.
