Russia Underscores Cuba Struggle against Terrorism

 Havana, Jan 23 (ACN) Cuba has an impeccable reputation as an active participant in the international cooperation to the struggle against terrorism, said Russia spokesperson Maria Zajarova.

In a press conference on Thursday, Zajarova addressed the US Donald Trump administration’s return of Cuba to the List of States Sponsors of Terrorism by saying that such decision aims at further tighten restrictive financial and economic measures to destabilize the island and cause a regime change on the island.

The spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry insisted in the very negative impact of the US measure on the quality of life of the Cuban people.

Is it perhaps a way to cause social discontent? The spokesperson reflected and said that it is sad that after more than 60 years imposing cruel sanctions and political pressure against Havana, Washington does not get to admit that it is useless to impose the US will on the Cuban people.

The Russian spokesperson said that her country will keep supporting Cuba in the defense of its sovereignty and its claim for the lifting of the over-60-year US economic, commercial and financial blockade, which she described as illegal and inhumane.

On Monday as US Donald Trump took his second presidential term he revoked the executive order by his predecessor Joe Bide who had excluded Cuba from the List of States Sponsors of Terrorism.
