Cuba Congratulates New Lebanese Premier

Havana, Jan 15 (ACN) Cuban Premier Manuel Marrero Cruz congratulated Lebanon’s new Prime Minister Nawaf Salam.

On his X account, Marrero wished Salam success in his work and ratified his government willingness to further strengthen bonds of friendship between Cuba and Lebanon.

Nawaf Salam, current president of the International Justice Court, was elected Prime Minister with the support of 85 out of 128 lawmakers of the Lebanese Congress.

According to international sources, the new Lebanese Premier promised to take the country back on its feet after the economic crisis which affected that nation as well as the war between Israel and Hezbollah.

Salam said he would fully implement the United Nations Security Council resolution about the Israel-Hezbollah conflict, which stipulates that Israel must withdraw its troops from southern Lebanon and that Hezbollah must not have armed presence near the Israeli borders.

Lebanon borders with Syria to the north and east, with Irael to the south and with the Mediterranean Sea to the west. Beirut is Lebanon city capital and the most populated urban center.
