Havana, Nov 25 (ACN) Israeli attacks against the Lebanese military inside that country’s territory violate UN Security Council Resolution 1701, the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) denounced on Monday.
In a solidarity communique cited by PL news agency, the peace-keeping force expressed concern about the Israeli aggression, which have already killed at least 45 soldiers from the Lebanese Armed Forces.
UNIFIL Commander, Lieutenant General Aroldo Lazaro extended his condolences to the relatives of the soldiers killed.
According to the Blue Helmets Command in Lebanon, the Israeli attacks violate International Humanitarian Law, which limits the use of violence against those not involved in the hostilities.
UNIFIL insisted that the role of the Lebanese Armed Forces keeps being crucial for the full implementation of UN Resolution 1701, passed in August 2006, and which is considered instrumental to put an end to current Israeli violence.
