HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 21 (ACN) Getting Cuba’s name out of the U.S. list of state sponsors of terrorism is the purpose of a campaign organized by trade unionists from that country to request President Joseph Biden to do so before the end of his term.
As reported by Prensa Latina (PL), Chris Bender, leader of Building Relations with Cuban Labor (BRWCL), said in a nationwide call through the Zoom platform that they will keep urging Biden in the next two months to fulfill his promises and roll back the anti-Cuban policy implemented by the Trump Administration.
Mark Friedman, a member of Local 1484 of the International Association of Machinists, wrote that most Americans, as well as the rest of the world, want an end to this appalling treatment of the Cuban people.
"We just saw the United Nations, once again, vote 187 to two to end the U.S. blockade of Cuba," recalled the activist, who is also member of the L.A.-based Hands Off Cuba Committee.
The letter also asks Biden to restore diplomatic services, alleviate the suffering of ordinary Cubans and create opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation between the U.S. and Cuba for the benefit of what it describes as “a more stable and humane relationship”, as well as to provide the Cuban people with meaningful means of recovery and resilience after the damage caused by several natural disasters.
