Cuba decries U.S. veto on Gaza resolution

HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 20 (ACN) In a post on X, Political Bureau member Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs, criticized the new U.S. veto in the UN Security Council on a draft resolution demanding an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire and the provision of humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza, which he described as evidence of the U.S. government’s complicity in the Israeli genocide against the Palestinian people.

The text, which was voted in favor by the other 14 members of the Security Council, called for an unconditional ceasefire and the release of hostages, as well as the unimpeded entry of large-scale humanitarian assistance into the Gaza Strip.

Washington argued that it cannot support the unconditional nature of the cease-fire, whereas Russia referred to the veto as hardly surprising and accused the U.S. of obstructing months-long attempts to resolve a catastrophic situation.
