Russian minister held fruitful exchange with Cuban Civil Defense

HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 15 (ACN) A very fruitful exchange took place in Havana between Lieutenant General Alexander Viacheslavovich Kurenkov, Minister of the Russian Federation for Civil Protection, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters, and officials of the National General Staff of the Cuban Civil Defense (EMNDC by its Spanish acronym).

The meeting lasted at least two hours at the headquarters of the institution, where their corresponding representatives focused their attention on the evaluation of the project Technological Strengthening of the EMNDC, which was headed by its second chief, First Colonel Luis Angel Macareño Veliz.

With the presence also of the PhD in science and first colonel, Luis Carlos Guzman Matos, head of the Cuban Fire Brigade, Macareño explained to the visitor and his delegation aspects related to the equipment installed in his center, especially with energy backup, and expansion of capacities.

Kurenkov confirmed his agency's intention to consolidate support to Cuba in cooperation to face exceptional situations and emergencies, as they did in 2022 in the fire at the Matanzas super tanker base and in restoring the network of its national electro-energy system.

He exemplified with the delivery of a donation of eight firefighting motorcycles, on Wednesday, at the Cuban-Russian Regional Training Center for Rescue and Firefighters (CRESB by its Spanish acronym), in the capital's municipality of La Lisa, and another of water filters and sanitary bags from a Russian cooperation agency.

Kurenkov has been carrying out since yesterday an invitation for a working visit from Major General Lazaro Alberto Alvarez Casas, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and Minister of the Interior of Cuba.
