HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 13 (ACN) The 60th anniversary of Russia’s Cuba Friendship Society (RCFS), formerly the Soviet-Cuban Friendship Society, will be celebrated today in Moscow by its leaders and top officials of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP).
“The goal is to strengthen fraternal ties, have more exchanges and increase solidarity actions against the U.S. blockade of Cuba and the island’s inclusion in the spurious list of state sponsors of terrorism”, according to ICAP official Rigoberto Zarza Ross, who remarked that the event will be headed by Aleksey Mikhailovich Lavrov and Fernando Gonzalez Llort, presidents of SRAC and ICAP, respectively.
He pointed out that the Cuban delegation will thank its hosts for the rapid material assistance and solidarity of the Russian government in these hard times facing Cuba as a result of the intensified U.S. policy and the damages caused by weather events and will lay a wreath at the bronze monument to Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, unveiled in Moscow on November 22, 2022 by the presidents of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, and Russia, Vladimir Putin.
The Cubans will also meet with local supporters, parliamentarians, coordinators of solidarity organizations, and members of political parties.
