Havana, Sept 30 (ACN) Mexico turns into one of the first nations of this part of the world to be ruled by a woman, as Claudia Sheinbaum takes office Tuesday as new President of Mexico.
Heads of state of several nations invited to the presidential inauguration have already arrived in Mexico, including Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel , Luis Alberto Arce from Bolivia , Gabriel Boric from Chile, Luis Rodolfo Abinader from the Dominican Republic and Luiz Inacio Lula from Brazil .
The political career of Sheinbaum would reportedly started after a meeting with President Andres Manel Lopez Obrador in 2000, though she had already taken part in student movements, according to a report by PL news agency, which recalls that Sheinbaum was also governor of Mexico City and chief of the Tlalpan delegation district.
In recent days, the president-elect sided Obrador in the opening of infrastructure projects, where she said that “we are governing under the same principles, on the same causes, the corruption rule will not return, or that of the privileges. We will rule on the principle of Mexican Humanism: for the Good of All, and the poor First.”
