Caracas, Sept 2 (ACN) As part of Washington’s unilateral and coercive measures against Caracas, US authorities seized a Venezuelan government plane in the Dominican Republic on Monday.
According to a Venezuelan News report https://shorturl.at/RCdqA cited by PL news agency, Washington argues that the purchase of the plane by Venezuela violated US sanctions on the South American nation.
The official Venezuelan airplane was reportedly flown to Fort Lauderdale in the US state of Florida.
The seizure was carried out by several US agencies including the US Departments of Homeland Security, of Commerce, Justice and the Bureau of Industry and Security. This is not an isolated incident; it joins a long list of coercive and unilateral US measures against Venezuela, according to the PL new agency report.
In June 2022, a Boeing 747-300, owned by Venezuela’s “Aerocargo del Sur” (Emtrasur) Transportation Company was retained in Argentina during the administration of President Alberto Fernandez. The action was described by Venezuelan authorities as an open theft to the detriment of the state.
That plane was handed to US authorities by Argentina’s Javier Milei on February 12. The aircraft, which belonged to Emtrasur, a branch of Venezuela’s Conviasa company, was scrapped in the US, inflicting a damage calculated at some 83 million dollars for Venezuela.lc
