Cuba Condemns Foreign Interference with Honduras Affairs

Havana, Aug 30 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel demanded the end of foreign interference with Honduras’ internal affairs and reiterated his government support to President Xiomara Castro.

The head of state made his statements on X, on which a message by Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez also rejects Washington’s interference with the domestic affairs of the Central American nation. Rodriguez alerted about the denunciations issued by Xiomara Castro about a plan against her administration.

On Thursday, Castro alerted the Honduran people about statements by the US ambassador in Tegucigalpa, Laura Dogu, related to a visit to Venezuela by two high-level Honduran officials.

She said referred to an attack against the chief of the armed forces and the defense minister in Honduras, something she described as very delicate since it was an attack that Hondurans cannot allow to happen because it weakens the country’s institutionality and affects the upcoming electoral process.

The Honduran head of state had denounced on X Washington’s intentions to lead its policy on Honduras through its embassy and other representatives, actions described as intolerable by Xiomara Castro, PL news agency reported.

On the heels of Castro’s denunciations, Honduras put an end to the extradition treaty with the United States, which was in force since 1912.lc
