Cuba to attend conference of the African Diaspora in the Americas

Anayansi

HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 29 (ACN) Cuba will participate on August 31 in the ministerial segment of the Regional Conference of the African Diaspora in the Americas, to be held in the city of Salvador, Brazil.

One of the priorities of the delegation, headed by Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, deputy minister of Foreign Affairs, is to show the Cuban government's efforts in favor of and commitment to the fight against all forms of racism and racial discrimination based on the National Program on this issue approved by the Council of Ministers in 2019 and focused on overcoming social disadvantages linked to skin color.

Cuba will also share the results of the International Conference “New narratives: memories, resistance and vindication”, held recently in Havana to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the UNESCO “Routes of the Enslaved Peoples” program, and promote the International Conference “Cuba 2024: Decade for People of African Descent”, to be held in Havana on December 9 to 13.

The report highlights Cuba’s principles regarding its permanent opposition to any form of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance, as well as the island’s unrestricted commitment to the Durban Declaration and Program of Action.
