Cuban deputy PM pays tribute to Maximo Gomez in Dominican Republic



HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 16 (ACN) Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca, Cuban deputy prime minister, and the delegation accompanying him, paid tribute to Major General Maximo Gomez today in the Dominican Republic.

As reported by the foreign ministry on its website, as part of the day he visited the city of Bani, with the aim of visiting the Maximo Gomez Polytechnic and other historical sites linked to the life of Major General Maximo Gomez.

There they laid a wreath in front of the bust of the Generalissimo.

Tapia Fonseca was accompanied by Ydael Perez Brito, Cuban minister of Agriculture, Rafael Dausa Cespedes, general director for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean of the foreign affairs ministry, Angel Arzuaga Reyes, Cuban ambassador to the Caribbean nation, and Lisbeth Diaz Garcia, official of the foreign trade and foreign investment ministry.

The Dominican side was represented by Senator Milciades Franjul; Julito Fulcar, deputy and senator-elect; Willy Sanchez, deputy-elect; Angela Yadira Baez, civil governor; Leonidas Diaz and Melquis Castillo, president and vice president of the Municipal Council, as well as councilors: Andrii Suazo and Mayelin Herrera; Juan German, vice president of the PRM; Yvan Peña president of the Maximo Gomez Foundation; Joaquin Bautista, president of the literacy campaign with Cuba of Bani, as well as several personalities.
