HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 16 (ACN) Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Cuban foreign minister, denounced the attempts of the Organization of American States (OAS) to impose a resolution on the electoral process in Venezuela.
As condemned by the Cuban foreign minister on X, the document issued maintains the same meddling character as previous attempts at a resolution on the subject.
We call to abstain from promoting actions that generate instability and violence in that country, Rodriguez Parrilla declared.
OAS member countries discussed another resolution in which they again ask the National Electoral Council to deliver the official results of the past elections of July 28, an independent review of the results and to stop the alleged human rights violations in Venezuela.
On July 31, three days after the elections in the neighboring country, the Permanent Council held an extraordinary session in Washington to analyze this situation and demanded the immediate delivery of the electoral records and a comprehensive verification of the results in the presence of independent observation organizations.
However, the resolution ended up failing, obtaining only 17 votes out of the 18 required for its approval.
