Cuba condemns new attack on refugees in Gaza school

HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 11 (ACN) In a post on X, Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla condemned the Israeli attack on a school in Gaza where hundreds of civilians were sheltered, describing it as a crime against humanity that reveals once again Israel’s total disregard for International Humanitarian Law.

The Israeli army launched an airstrike on the Al-Taba'een school in Gaza City that left a hundred casualties among the displaced Palestinians staying in the premises, an action that Israel justified with the argument that the place was a hideout for terrorists and Hamas commanders.

In the past three weeks, Israel has bombed schools in which Palestinians fleeing attacks have taken refuge.

UN estimates have it that between 60,000 and 70,000 people have been forced to flee following Israeli evacuation orders and reported in July that 477 of Gaza's 569 schools had been targeted since the beginning of Israel’s attack against the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023.

According to local health authorities, at least 40,000 Palestinians have been killed—most of them women and children—and more than 91,700 injured in 10 months of genocide.
