Cuban Foreign Minister hails ASEAN's 57th anniversary

HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 8 (ACN) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla congratulated the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian States (ASEAN) on its 57th anniversary and reasserted Cuba’s willingness to strengthen economic and cooperation ties with the organization.

In 2020, ASEAN approved Cuba's adherence to the bloc's Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (TAC) during the 53rd Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Association.

The body relies on three major pillars: Political Community (APSC), Economic Community (AEC) and Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC). Its General Secretariat is in Jakarta, Indonesia and is composed of Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar.
