HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 2 (ACN) João Lourenço, President of Angola, received today the Cuban delegation, led by Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, on a working visit to the southwest African nation.
During the meeting, at the Presidential Palace of Cidade Alta, in Luanda, the Cuban premier said that his stay will contribute to continue identifying possible cooperation areas.
As reported on X by the Government of the Caribbean country, Marrero Cruz stated that there are many potentialities to develop a superior collaboration, mutually advantageous and to the benefit of both peoples.
In addition, Cuban premier highlighted the strong historical ties that unite the two nations, based on the struggle for Angola's independence.
This visit is the first made by the Cuban PM in that position, and corresponds to the high-level exchange that has always distinguished the relations between the two countries, stressed the website of the Presidency of Cuba.
Marrero Cruz arrived in Luanda on Thursday from Iran, where he participated in the inauguration ceremony of President Masoud Pezeshkian.
The program, which will last until August 3, will include meetings with the highest authorities, visits to centers of historical, economic and social interest, and the usual meetings with members of the Cuban Embassy, representatives of the Angola-Cuba Friendship Association and Cuban nationals residing in the African nation.
The Caribbean delegation is also made up of the first deputy minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, Army Corps General Ramon Espinosa Martin; Carlos Miguel Pereira Hernandez, general director of bilateral affairs of the foreign ministry, and Carlos Santiago Martinez Rodriguez, executive president of the Antex Corporation SA.
Cuba and Angola have maintained diplomatic relations since November 15, 1975, which have been characterized by deep friendship and cooperation.
