HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 2 (ACN) Esteban Lazo, president of the National Assembly of People's Power and the Council of State, received Hua Xin, ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Caribbean country.
As reported by the Parliament on X, during the meeting held at the National Capitol, both parties ratified the willingness to expand and strengthen ties in all areas, especially inter-parliamentary ones.
Cuba was the first country in the western hemisphere to establish diplomatic relations with Beijing and recognize the existence of one China 64 years ago, on September 2, 1960.
Before announcing the establishment of official bilateral relations, both parties had already established two cultural and scientific and technical cooperation agreements on July 23, 1960.
