Cuban Head of State was the bearer of a letter of congratulations from the leader of the Revolution, Army General Raul Castro Ruz, to Vladimir Putin after his re-election as President of the Russian Federation, as well as the recognition of the Cuban people, Party and Government.
Diaz-Canel was received on Thursday by the Russian president, the culmination of his busy work agenda in Moscow, capital where he arrived on May 7 on a working visit to take part - for the first time in person - in the Supreme Council of the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as to participate in the activities for the 79th anniversary of Victory Day.
He described his stay in Moscow as very special "it is always a satisfaction," he said, "because it has been framed in a series of events and anniversaries that we have lived intensely with you, therefore, our first words are of gratitude for the invitation that you extended to us for the Supreme Council of the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as the celebrations and celebrations for the 79th anniversary of Victory Day.
Precisely, in assessing Cuba's participation in the Supreme Council of the Eurasian Economic Union, in which our country had previously participated virtually, the Head of State considered it "an experience for learning and for appreciating all its potentialities, a space for consultation among a group of nations that are friends of Cuba, with which we have enormous possibilities to exchange, complement and move forward".
President Miguel Diaz-Canel considered it a privilege to be here on such a significant date as Victory Day, which is important not only for the Russian people but for all Humanity.
He also said that "being here also represents an enormous commitment to the ideal that Russia defended at that time, which is something that is extremely valid when it comes to erasing the history of the peoples to advance in hegemonic and imperial policy".
Cuban President highlighted the context in which his visit to the sister Eurasian nation took place, on the 64th anniversary of the establishment of relations between the USSR and Cuba, "which has been a relationship of continuity also between the Russian Federation and our country".
He commented on the moments that the Cuban Revolution is going through due to the impact of the tightening of the blockade policy of the United States by applying actions of maximum pressure, based on two main components: the economic choking that has its historical references in the 1960s, and the other one, the media intoxication around the Revolution, with the articulation of press media at the service of the Empire.
President told Vladimir Putin that the policy of tightening the U.S. blockade has escalated, particularly during the last four years since the previous administration of Donald Trump and maintained by the administration of Joe Biden, with significant impacts on the food supply of the people, the energy situation with the availability of fuels, medicines and the overall development of the country.
During the cordial exchange, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that "we always support the Cuban people and are against U.S. attempts to restrict Cuba's development and damage it economically through sanctions".
He highlighted the results of the voting in the UN against the US blockade on Cuba, where an overwhelming majority voted in favor of the Caribbean country, and only one country voted in support of the one that is blockading it.
