Diaz-Canel welcomes swearing-in of President Vladimir Putin



HAVANA, Cuba, May 7 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the country, hailed today, on behalf of the Cuban government and people, the inauguration of his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, for a new term in office.

Cuban leader recalled on X, the record achieved by the Russian president, who was reelected with 87.28 % of the votes.

Tuesday, Putin's official inauguration ceremony was held at the Grand Kremlin Palace in Moscow for another six-year term.

After the inauguration, the president went out to the Cathedral Square and saluted the Kremlin Regiment and then went to the Cathedral of the Annunciation where he attended a brief religious service led by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.

In the context of President Vladimir Putin's re-election, Diaz-Canel arrived in Russia to begin a working visit.

As part of his stay, the head of state will also participate in the Supreme Council of the Eurasian Economic Union, all within the framework of the 64th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations and the 79th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
