Cuban President in Grenada: “We are brothers and sisters”

Havana, Dec 7 (ACN) Shortly after midday Wednesday, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel arrived in the Caribbean island nation of Grenada, as part of a regional tour that took him to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Barbados, where he attended a Caricom-Cuba summit.

Upon his arrival at Grenada’s Maurice Bishop international airport, Diaz-Canel was welcomed by Prime Minister Dickon Mitchel.

Following an official ceremony, the Grenadian Premier invited the Cuban president to see a plaque at the airport which was unveiled by Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro during a visit to Grenada in 1998.

With this gesture, Grenada pays tribute to 24 Cubans killed in action during the October 1983 US military invasion of that island nation.

Dickson said that the airport is part of the cooperation between Grenada and Cuba and he extended his gratefulness, while the Cuban president said that there is nothing to appreciate because “we are brothers and sisters.”
