HAVANA, Cuba, February 11 (ACN) A draw in today's match against Belize is all the Cuban U-17 men's football team needs to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, to be held in Qatar.
The CONCACAF U-17 Men’s Qualifiers―which gathers 34 teams in eight groups hosted by six countries―have reached their decisive phase to determine the eight slots allocated to the region, with as yet undefeated Team Cuba playing in the Guatemala-based Group F.
Known as Leones del Caribe, the Cubans boast 6 points after their 1-0 and 2-1 victories over Curaçao and El Salvador, respectively, so a draw in their game with Belize would give them the first place in the group and therefore the chance to join host Qatar at the World Cup.
