HAVANA, Cuba, January 12 (ACN) Cuban swimmers won a total of 12 medals – two gold, six silver, and four bronze – at the Claude Sufrin in Memoriam 2026 Tournament in Martinique, which concluded on Sunday.

On the final day, they accumulated one gold, three silver, and three bronze medals at the traditional competition that honors the local swimmer and which, in this edition, brought together clubs from seven other Caribbean countries and one from France.

The gold medalist was Alessandro Herrera in the 100-meter butterfly (1:02.01 minutes), a new personal best.

Danilo Savín won silver in the 50-meter and 100-meter breaststroke with times of 31.21 and 1:11.09, respectively. Yadiel Estrada won the third bronze medal in the 100-meter freestyle (54.44), an event in which Savín secured bronze (53.33).

The other bronze medals went to Jayro Brito in the 100-meter backstroke (1:03.75) and Alejandra Menchero in the 100-meter butterfly (1:10.66), both with their own best times.

On the opening day, Saturday, Savín (2:02.23 minutes), Brito (2:04.50), and Herrera (2:08.64) swept the podium in the 200-meter freestyle.

Estrada won silver in the 50-meter freestyle (24.64 seconds) and in the 4x50-meter mixed freestyle relay (1:48.12), which included Ana Lía de la Vega, Helen de la Guardia, Estrada himself, and Pérez.

The competition, which is reminiscent of the local triton, is part of the preparation of Cuban swimmers in their aim to qualify for the Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo 2026.
