HAVANA, Cuba, November 13 (ACN) Goals and excellent plays abounded in Cuba’s 3-0 victory over Saint Lucia in the 2025-2026 CONCACAF Friendly Series, under way in the city of Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic.
While Saint Lucia was not considered the strongest of rivals, the Cubans lived up to expectations and projected a very good image, inasmuch as they could have scored more goals, considering that they held the ball 72 % of the time and created almost 30 scoring opportunities.
“I said several times in recent days that we came here to compete and win. The young players showed today that they are capable of doing so, and I congratulate them on a performance that ultimately paid off,” Team Cuba’s head coach remarked after the match. “Things went according to plan today. Winning by scoring and keeping a clean sheet gives our players a lot of confidence, as they understand that it is possible to play good football and scoring goals”.
Next on the Cubans’ schedule is Martinique, which at least seem to be a more difficult team than Saint Lucia.
