HAVANA, Cuba, November 13 (ACN) The Cuban pairs Noslen Díaz-Jorge Luis Alayo and Damián Gómez-Eblis Veranes will make their debut against Benin and Qatar on the first day of the 2025 Beach Volleyball World Championships, under way as of today in Adelaide, Australia.
Cuba’s No. 1 pair, the 2024 Olympians Díaz and Alayo, will be opposite Benin’s Daouda Yacoubou and Mensan Tohouegnon, followed by New Zealand’s Brad Fuller and Ben O'Dea on the 15th and Portugal’s Pedrosa and Hugo Campos the next day.
Meanwhile, Gómez and Veranes, who are debutants at this level, will have their first matches on the 15th against the Qatari Ahmed Tijan and Cherif Younousse and the Austrians Timo Hammarberg and Tim Berger, whereas on the 16th they will play Switzerland’s Ives Haussener and Julian Freidli.
According to the organizers, the event gathers 48 male and 48 female pairs who will play 216 matches.
