HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 13 (ACN) Cuba will have three young judokas on the closing day of the Lima, Peru, Grand Prix today after unsuccessful attempts at the podium.
According to the International Federation's website www.ijf.org, Lisrialis Gonzalez, in the 78 kilogram (kg), Dayanara Curbelo (+78), and Zail Ramirez (100), will compete Monday with the best chances of medals. Mauricio de Armas (66 kg), Dali Semanat (52 kg), Jon Kuan Fleitas (73 kg), Alejandro Cesar (81 kg), and Glenda Maso (70 kg) were left off the podium on Sunday.
Armas won the first bout against local Franco Baltazar by two Yukos, but then lost a quick Ippon to Canadian Julien Frascadore.
Dali lost by Wazari in her debut against Peruvian Brillith Gamarra, while Fleitas received an Ippon from Swiss Nils Stump.
Cesar had a similar Ippon result, losing the first bout by Ippon to Venezuelan Luis Pariche, while Glenda was defeated by Yuko by German Samira Bock, and likewise ended up in the first round.
