Cuban wins bronze medal at World Para Powerlifting Championships



HAVANA, Cuba, October 12 (ACN) Cuban para lifter Leidy Rodríguez finished third in the women's 50 kg division in the elite category of the world championships, held in Cairo, Egypt.

Leidy won her medal after notching up a total result of 282 kg in three valid attempts, thus adding three kilos to her personal best in totals and climbing to the 12th place among the competitors.

Cuba will continue its participation in these championships with the men's team, made up of Jesús Cuevas (72 kg), Pablo Ramírez (54 kg), and Enmanuel González (49 kg), as well as with the men's and women's team events and in the mixed competition.

The World Para Powerlifting Championships in Cairo assembled 537 athletes (311 men and 226 women) from some 70 nations, including all the champions from the 2024 Paralympic Games.
