HAVANA, Cuba, August 27 (ACN) Cuba beat Antigua and Barbuda in straight sets in the opener of the 2025 Men's Pan American Volleyball Cup, under way in Guanajuato, Mexico.
The Cubans led the game in attack (41-15), block (6-2), and serve (11-2), as expected given the inferior level of their opponents, who nevertheless boasted fewer errors (17-27).
“We're coming off a long journey; we just arrived last night, but it was good that we could start with a little demanding game because we were not very well coordinated and committed a lot of fouls", team captain Victor Andreu said in statements to the press. “We underestimate no team, and this game served us to train for tougher ones, like when we play Venezuela and the United States."
Venezuela is next on Team Cuba’s schedule for this competition that grants points as part of the qualification system for the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games to be held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
