HAVANA, Cuba, August 26 (ACN) Cuba bid farewell to the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship, held in Thailand, with a 3-1 victory over Slovakia, after losing to Belgium and Italy in straight sets.
This was the first win for a Cuban team since the 2010 edition, when they defeated Kazakhstan and Thailand but lost the other three games.
Cuba left the World Championships in Italy 2014 and Japan 2018 without winning a single game, and they failed to qualify for the 2022 tournament.
Following Italy, undefeated in three games (9 points), is Belgium (2-1, 6 points), whereas Cuba (1-2, 3) and Slovakia (0-3, 0) failed to advance to the round of 16.
