Silver and bronze for Cuba in canoeing at ASU 2025



HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 21 (ACN) Cuban kayaker Julio Cesar Suarez and canoeist Yinnolis Franchesca won silver and bronze medals today in the K-1 500 meters and C-1 500 meters, in that order, of the canoeing events at the 2nd Junior Pan American Games in Asuncion, held in the bay of that Paraguayan city.

According to the multi-sport event website, Suarez crossed the finish line in second place with a time of 1:43.31 minutes, behind the Chilean boat (1:42.29) and ahead of Argentina (1:44.29).

For her part, Yinnolis Franchesca finished with bronze with a time of 2:19.55 minutes, behind the canoeists from Brazil (2:12.59) and Mexico (2:14.49).

With this result, Yinnolis Franchesca earned her second medal in the Paraguayan multi-sport competition, winning gold on Wednesday in the C-1 200-meter event.

So far, Cuba's canoeing team has taken one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal, a haul that should increase this Friday and Saturday, the final days of the kayak and canoe events, as well as the Paraguayan competition.
