HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 21 (ACN) Cuban kayaker Julio Cesar Suarez won the silver medal today in the K-1 500-meter canoeing event at the 2nd Junior Pan American Games in Asuncion, held in the bay of that Paraguayan city.
According to the multi-sport event website, Suarez crossed the finish line in second place with a time of 1:43.31 minutes, behind the Chilean boat (1:42.29) and ahead of Argentina (1:44.29).
This morning, kayaker Maria Claudia Alvarez finished fourth in the K-1 500-meter final, but still remaining in the finals are Cubans Javier Requiero, in the C-1 500-meter event, and Yinnolis Franchesca Lopez, in the C-1 500-meter event, who will be looking for her second medal in Asuncion, since she won gold on Wednesday in the C-1 200-meter event.
